The Gracie Diet: A Chat with Coach Ryan Dreyer of Tribal Training
An interesting perspective on Eating the right combinations of Food to mitigate pain and suffering within the body
A little over a month ago, Founder and Head Coach of Tribal Training, Ryan Dreyer approached me with questions about The Gracie Diet. He was reading up on the process of the diet protocols and wanted my thoughts and opinions.
I never heard about this specific diet plan before so I dove head first into absorbing as much knowledge as I could about it. Interestingly enough, no scientific literature has been produced on this diet plan. Most of the information is from articles and books written on it.
Originally the Gracie Diet was to help Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu Master Carlos Gracie alleviate consistent migraines he was experiencing. These migraines would leave him debilitated for hours even days, not allowing him to train the martial art he loved so dearly.
He understood something had to change.
And that is when he heard Hippocrates' saying, “Let Food Be Thy Medicine”, and it started making more sense to him.
The goal of the Diet is simple. Not to poison the body. Utilizing the right food combinations to help ease digestion and improve absorption of the nutrients we consume through the focus on mainly pH balance.
Ryan and I had such a great conversation on this particular topic we decided to record a podcast to share Ryan’s experience and my nutritional perspective on the diet.
We chatted a bit more than just on the Gracie Diet alone, we touched on a pletora of important topics about setting boundaries with meals, owning our slip-ups, and moving forward from them.
